At this point, your NICs are installed in all your computers and all of the computers have the necessary, clients, protocols and services installed. This is a good point to check whether everything is working properly.
The Host Machine:Step 1:First you need to right click on the Network
Neighborhood icon on the desktop of your HOST Machine then choose
Properties. This will bring up a window that says Network
at the top. (figure 10) |

You should be already on the configuration tab. If it isn't already on this tab you will need to click it. Look through the list for your particular network card under TCP/IP. For example it should look something like this: (TCP/IP > F5D5000, PCI Card/Desktop Network PCI Card) It will be listed something like this but the name will be different depending on what brand network card you are using. (figure 11) With this line highlighted, click on Properties. |

On the TCP/IP Properties screen mark Specify an IP address then enter in the IP Address bar (192.168.0.1). Then go to the Subnet Mask and enter (255.255.255.0) as you see in figure 12. Then click OK to close the TCP/IP Properties Window. Now you will be back at the Network window (figure 11). Make sure the network configuration tab is on top.

Step 2:Client for Microsoft Networks needs to be set as your Primary Windows Logon. Half way down in the Network configuration window and you will see a field labeled as Primary Network Logon. There is a drop down arrow on this field. Choose Client for Microsoft Networks for your Primary Logon if it isn't already there. (figure 13) |
